OUR STORY

First opened over 20 years ago by the esteemed Thierry Gallichet from Lyon, Montrachet quickly became a beloved institution, capturing hearts from its original home in Paddington.

Following a celebrated transition under acclaimed chef Shannon Kellam to its current home in Bowen Hills, Montrachet now welcomes a new chapter led by Michelin-trained chef Clément Chauvin. Also the owner of Canberra’s award-winning Les Bistronomes, Clément brings a passion for French cuisine, a flair for innovation, and a deep respect for the legacy he inherits.

With big shoes to fill, Clément embraces the challenge—crafting a seasonal menu that blends classical French techniques with the finest locally sourced ingredients.

Guiding the front of house is Remon Van de Kerkhof, whose impressive pedigree includes time at Australia’s top culinary institutions such as Neil Perry’s Rockpool Bar & Grill and Aria Sydney, as well as two- and three-Michelin-starred restaurants in his native Netherlands. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, Remon curates a refined and expansive wine list, ensuring each guest experience is seamless, elegant, and memorable.

FUNCTIONS & EVENTS

Weddings, birthdays, corporate events and celebrations of all kinds - Montrachet will make it an event to remember. Our exquisite food, classic setting and impeccable service have made events at Montrachet calendar highlights for clients and guests. Function offerings include lunch or dinner in our private dining room and sit-down or cocktail events in our restaurant.

Private Dining Room

Our beautifully appointed Private Dining Room is available for lunch or dinner and can accommodate up to 18 guests. The private entry from Machinery Street gives events an exclusive feel. AV features include wi-fi, a ceiling-mounted projector, a motorised screen and a sound system.

Full Venue Hire

Montrachet is the perfect setting for your next event, offering exclusive use of the restaurant for up to 40 guests in a formal sit-down setting or up to 80 guests for a cocktail-style gathering. 

Enjoy our award-winning fare, a selection of canapé options, and curated drinks packages, all within our signature glamorous atmosphere.

  • To make a reservation to dine in, use the online booking tool – please note we do not take booking requests through any social media.

    We kindly request credit card details to confirm bookings; without these details, your booking cannot be confirmed. We do not take any payments from your card unless you are a “no show” or cancel outside of our terms, as outlined on the reservations page.

    If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact the restaurant as your booking may not have gone through or your details may be incorrect.

    Bookings of 10 or more guests, either in the restaurant or private dining room, will attract a 10% service charge.

    All our guests are subject to a minimum of two courses regardless of age (including children). While we warmly welcome families, please note that we do not have high chairs available, and recommend this experience for children who are comfortable with a full dining service.

  • Montrachet is pleased to offer guests complimentary parking whilst dining.

    Please park at The King Street Carpark, located opposite the restaurant (behind Artisan) with entry via Machinery Street or via Alexandria Street and advise your waiter of your car registration when settling your account.

    Additional metered parking is also available on King Street at your own expense.

    Your table will be held for 15 minutes after your reservation time. If you are running late, please let us know at your earliest convenience.

  • Kindly advise us of any dietary requirements when making your booking. Please note, we require 72 hours’ notice for our vegetarian Chef’s Menu. While we’re unable to offer vegan options or modify menus for lifestyle diets, we’ll do our best to accommodate allergies and medical dietary needs where possible.

  • Montrachet is fully accessible for guests using wheelchairs. To ensure the most comfortable experience, please let us know at the time of booking so we can reserve the most suitable table for you.
